Sara Woodley’s interview with Jennifer Sumner, new teacher WHS
Sara: Where did you go to high school? College?
Mrs. Sumner: I graduated from Muscle Shoals High School. I attended Athens State, University of North Alabama, Northwest Shoals Community College, and Wallace State Community college.
Sara: Where did you teach before you came to WHS?
Mrs. Sumner: Curry High School
Sara: How do you like WHS?
Mrs. Sumner: I like it very much.
Sara: What do you teach?
Mrs. Sumner: I teach Anatomy, Pre-AP Chemistry, and AP Chemistry
Sara: How do you spend your time out of school? What are your interests?
Mrs. Sumner: I like to spend time with my family. My 5 year old was born with half a heart. I am the Vice President of the Children’s Heart Foundation at the Alabama Chapter. I like attending church, playing the piano, and watching sports.
Sara: Why did you decide to become a teacher?
Mrs. Sumner: I want to help people.
Sara: What is your favorite thing about teaching?
Mrs. Sumner: Knowing that the students will have a better future.
Sara: Do you have any advice you would like to give to the students of WHS?
Mrs. Sumner: The day you stop learning is the day you start dying.
Sara: Tell us about your family.
Mrs. Sumner: I am married. My husband works behind our house in an auto mechanic transmission shop.
Sara: Is there anything else you would like to tell us about yourself?
Mrs. Sumner: I served in the military during the desert storm. I was a journalist in the Navy. I worked as a Licensed Physical Therapy Assistant for almost 15 years. I did a TV show for a year. I love my family and Jesus my Savior.
