Everyone knows and anticipates that when the second quarter is over, the coveted, award winning Viking Band is preparing to take the field. The stadium is filled with excitement as the band entertains the roaring crowd week in and week out. Whether it is a fun, up tempo song, a mind blowing solo, or just a mellophone player named Matthew “Klondike” Meadows, dancing and “busting” a move, the band is always ready and able to entertain. However, the band does not stop after the conclusion of the football schedule. On Saturday, January 18, a few of Walker’s finest musicians will try out for the all-state band, the highest honor for a high school musician. They will be arriving at the school at 5:45 in the morning. Wish these guys luck and plenty of rest as they represent our school this weekend. GO VIKES!
