The Boy Scouts of America is a highly respected organization that has molded many of our local young men. As a character building and leadership developing program, the local Troop 117 holds a tradition of producing high-quality young men. Few Scouts reach the final rank of Eagle due to the intense commitment the final rank advancement requires. Recently however, many young men have been working towards achieving the highest honor the Boy Scouts of America offers, Eagle Scout. Exclusively, the Walker High School Class of 2013 holds two current Eagles and four on the doorstep of final rank advancement. The four pending Eagle Scouts are Darby Williams, Will Cook, Logan Black, and Matt Kennedy; three of which solely lack Board of Review. Joseph Harris and I have completed our projects and Boards of Review. Projects can range from construction and landscaping to historical renewal and trail blazing, all of which benefit the local community. BSA Eagle Scouts have held paramount positions of leadership throughout history such as political office and NASA space exploration.
