In today’s world, young adults have access to many different forms of entertainment. They watch movies, spend hours on social networking sites, and listen to music. Sometimes teens forget about one of the most enjoyable activities…reading! A book enhances one’s imagination with enticing or suspenseful storylines. Furthermore, books introduce readers to new ideas that they may ponder. These ideas thus cause the reader to develop the ability to think intellectually. Since 1998, Teen Read Week, which is sponsored by the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA), has been celebrated to inspire teenagers to embrace literature and read recreationally. Also, Teen Read Week is designed to encourage students to take advantage of free library books, e-books, audiobooks, etc. This year, Teen Read Week will start on October 14th and conclude on the 20th. The theme will be “It Came from the Library!” So, make sure to grab a book and read, read, read!
