On Thursday, April 5th, Walker High School Anchor members had the opportunity to serve their community and school by helping with the North Highlands Easter Egg Hunt. Anchors were allowed to leave during their third block and go to North Highlands. When they arrived, they were given baskets filled with plastic eggs and allowed to hide them all over the playground.
After that, each Anchor picked a ‘buddy’ to help find eggs. The Anchors got to know their buddies while helping them find their eggs and meet the Easter Bunny. Several of the Anchors already knew their buddies from Amber Wright’s class, who receive goodies from the Anchor club several times a year.
As a ‘thank you’, Mrs. Wright’s class had prepared Easter goodies for the Anchors, which they presented to them before pictures with the Easter Bunny.
Afterwards, Anchors helped give the students snacks and drinks and spent time with them. They sat for several minutes and made new friends and spoke to old ones from past Anchor events and school events. Anchors helped clean up and told their friends goodbye before heading back to school, but overall the Egg Hunt was once again a success, and Anchors had fun serving their community once again!
