Each week a WHS senior athlete is chosen to be in the spotlight. We call this segment “Spotlight on Seniors”. This week Shane Donaldson was chosen as the spotlight recipient. He was chosen for his accomplishments on the WHS Basketball team. We asked him a few questions to get to know him a little better.
Donaldson: I stay relaxed throughout the day to conserve energy until tip-off.
Q: How do you prepare physically before a game?
Donaldson: I get a good night’s sleep the night before. I always eat a good breakfast and hydrate well throughout the day of a game.
Q: What is the best part of your game?
Donaldson: I would say rebounding because I anticipate where the ball is going to be.
Q: Do you feel that you hold an advantage when playing at Songer Gymnasium, your home gym?
Donaldson: Yes, I feel that I hold an advantage because I don’t get as nervous. I feel that I should always dominate on my home floor.
Q: How do you celebrate after a big win?
Donaldson: I usually celebrate with my fellow seniors. Often, we go out to eat together after the game.
Q: What do you aspire to achieve?
Donaldson: I hope to always give everything I have to the team and to make those around me better.
Q: What do you like the most about being a senior on the basketball team?
Donaldson: I like being trusted when the game is on the line to lead my team to victory.
Q: What plans do you have after high school?
Donaldson: I plan to attend Bevill State Community College and enroll in the AC and Refrigeration technology department.
