This week’s “feature teacher” is Mrs. Kayla Goetz! Mrs. Goetz has been teaching Spanish I at Walker High School for almost seven years. She really enjoys Spanish and loves teaching it to her students. Some of her favorite sayings are “Los dedos de los pies”, which means “toes”. She also enjoys the phrase “sacapuntas”, meaning pencil sharpener. Mrs. Goetz enjoys sharing fun ideas with her students and making learning more fun for her class as well as herself.
Mrs. Goetz has a husband, Chris, and two sons, Rohan and Walt. Her favorite color is red, which is always present in her outfit and on her lips as well! She is also known for her big earrings and sophisticated, beautiful appearance. Mrs. Goetz has traveled to many foreign countries, such as Spain, Mexico, France, and Jamaica. However, her favorite is Spain. “It is so beautiful, she says, “and the atmosphere is so rich and vibrant!”. Her favorite food is hotdogs and Reese cups. Her favorite Mexican food, however, is definitely churros and flautas.
Mrs. Goetz has been learning Spanish ever since she had Mrs. Whitaker in high school, and has never stopped enjoying it. “I look at being able to teach here a privilege. I went to high school here.” Her students even love her as well. “Mrs. Goetz is awesome!” one of her students exclaims, “She is super nice and I love her stories! They are so helpful in learning Spanish.” Mrs. Goetz believes that a teacher truly has to be good at what they do in order to be successful, and the students and faculty of Walker High School definitely believe she exemplifies this and appreciate all her hard work and dedication to our school.
