It’s that time of year again: HOMECOMING! This is the week that we as students look forward to every year. The week is fun-filled with homecoming activities. First of all we get to dress up every day that week. Monday, September 26, is NERD DAY! We can dress up in nerdy clothing and wear taped-up glasses, pocket protectors, and pumped-up kicks. Tuesday is CHARACTER DAY! This is your opportunity to dress up as your favorite character. Whether it be a cartoon, movie star or sports star, put on your best costume and strut your stuff. Wednesday is NEON DAY! This is the day you wear your brightest colors. Don’t forget the reflectors! Thursday is DECADE DAY! Each class has their own decade to represent. Freshmen should wear garb from the 90’s, Sophomores should wear styles from the 80’s, and Juniors should dress up like the 70’s disco age. Seniors will dress up to represent the FUTURE! (pssss. Ask another senior for the DL). Friday is SPIRIT DAY! Freshmen will wear WHITE, sophomores will wear BLACK, and juniors will wear GOLD. Seniors will re-live the Viking tradition of wearing TOGAS on spirit day. Go get those autographs!
In addition to dressing up in all the fun attire, there will also be a pep rally on Friday, September 30. At the pep rally, the “new” cheerleaders will get us pumped-up with their cheers and performances while the seniors will be participating in a Toga run! After the pep rally will be the PARADE! Classes will get to show off all the hard work they put into creating spectacular floats. The parade will take place at 1pm downtown Jasper. Next is the GAME! The Walker Vikings will face-off the Hayden wildcats at 7pm, at the Gambrell-Kiro Field. Everyone come out and show your school pride by cheering on our football players.
After the game there will be a Homecoming DANCE! The dance will take place at the CHS building from 10 to Midnight. The dance theme is ELECTRIC AVENUE. Tickets to the dance will be on sale in the lunchroom homecoming week (Monday- Thursday). The prices are $10 per student or $15 per couple. So grab a partner, saddle up, and dance the night away on Homecoming Night! See you there.
