Huge crowds of people made the short trip to Cordova to watch the jamboree game Thursday night. Walker fans were not disappointed! The Walker Viking football team stomped the Cordova Blue Devils. Carson Roberts threw for a few touchdowns while the Viking defense handled the rest. Roberts completed 7-of-11 passes for 112 yards in the first half of play. After the first Viking touchdown, Gunter Wisdom kicked a 38 yard field goal to widen the gap between the two teams. Chancellor Allen returned a fumble for a 50 yard touchdown, pushing the Vikings even further ahead of the struggling Blue Devils. In the first half, Walker’s defense held Cordova to a stunningly low 17 yards. After a half of play the Vikings held a 24-0 lead. In the second half the Vikings added to the difference, scoring three touchdowns by the end of regulation. The Blue Devils managed to score a touchdown near the close of the game, making the final score 44-7. Both schools will open their official season next week as Walker hosts Northridge and Cordova travels to Dora.
