The students will cut open the animals, carefully remove their organs, and identify organs that are shared by these vertebrates. Also the rats that were dissected were pregnant and most had a full litter inside of them. These dissections will be the last experiment the AP students will conduct this year before heading off to college.
On May 9, Mrs. Kennedy’s students took the AP exam which, if they score high enough, will qualify them for college credit and allow them to skip a biology class in college. There are a total of ten students in her class this year.
Each student has worked diligently all semester on their work and so the dissection today is a reward for all their hard work. Mrs. Kennedy has successfully found a way to keep her students entertained and engaged in their work.
