Coach Sparks’ chemistry class isn’t just famous for how challenging it is for students at Walker High School. Every year, students in chemistry celebrate Mole Day. Mole Day commemorates Avogadro’s Number (6.02 x 10^23), which is a basic measuring unit in chemistry. Mr. Sparks’ chemistry classes tie dye shirts and turn in “mole” cards as a fun activity and a good opportunity to receive extra grades.
Also, the students do an experiment with Mentos and Diet Coke. They had great fun watching the chemical reactions between these two common ingredients. Junior student Kathryn Best said, “Coach Sparks always makes learning fun… now, it’s hard… but fun!”
