On Saturday, April 30, 2011, the WHS Family & Consumer Sciences Department is hosting a Student Chef Competition for any student that wants to enter. It will be held in the Golden Viking Room between 8 am and 3 pm. There is a $25.00 entry fee for all contestants per division.
Only WHS students will be eligible to participate. The deadline to enter is April 8, 2011 to Ms. Lockett in room 31 on third hall. There will be prizes for first, second, and third place!
Each student may only have one helper/assistant. Preparation and cook time for each division is one hour and fifteen minutes. Each participant and assistant must clean work space before judging. Meals must be cooked on site in FACS kitchens at WHS the day of the contest. Cooking divisions and times are as follows: Appetizers at 10:30 am, Entrees at 12:30 pm, and Desserts at 2:30 pm.
Students much purchase their own ingredients and bring tools and equipment. (WHS FACS will provide oven and stove.) Each student’s recipe must be typed and approved prior to contest date by Ms. Lockett.
Winners of the competition will be announced on the following Monday. Judging will be based on the following criteria: Taste (25 pts.), Presentation (25 pts.), Creativity (25 pts.), Ease of execution (25 pts.) Judging will take place in the Golden Viking Room.
Any WHS student is encouraged to participate and have a good time whipping up their favorite recipes!
