Mrs. Davis and senior student, Christy Robertson recently spent a week in Washington DC to attend the
National Fall Leadership Conference. The Conference started on Friday and concluded on Saturday. The Alabama FBLA State officers departed from Birmingham on Tuesday November 16th. Their tour included: the White House, Arlington National Cemetery, Fords Theater, Library of Congress, Korean War Memorial, Vietnam Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, WWII Memorial, Pentagon, Supreme Court, US Capital, Holocaust Museum, Washington Monument, Thomas Jefferson Memorial and Iwa Jima.
The WHS representatives meet with Congressman Jo Bonner from Mobile. They also had a state meeting where the delegation from Alabama meets for the first time in Washington DC. Following it was an opening session to official kick of the 2010 National Leadership conference.
On Saturday, the Alabama Leadership team presented a workshop on how to create an efficient program of work. After they presented, they attended workshops on how to improve leadership abilities and personal skills.
Lastly, on Saturday night the delegates attended a March of Dimes Blue Jeans for Babies Social. This social raised 5,283 dollars total in three locations. Christy says, “This is one of the largest leadership opportunity I have been able to be a part of thanks to Alabama FBLA.”
