Girls at a young age can be extremely self conscious. They will tear themselves down for the pursuit of perfection.
Motivational speaker and the wife of Coach Mark Aldridge Edie Hand is working on changing this within Middle and High school students. She has written books, spoken and been on radio and television programs. Her foundation “Pave the Way” helps change young girls and women’s self view.
She has recently donated two of her self improving books to Walker High School in hopes to encourage the young women in our high school. One of the books for younger girls is titled 31 Things to Raise a Child’s Self-esteem. “Studies show that over eight of ten people despise something about their appearance. Therefore, adolescence is an important time to help young people accept how they look so they can develop body confidence.” The second book she donated for grown women is titled Women of True Grit. “Many of the women in this book recorded first in their respective fields and are still with us today, able and willing to share their stories with Edie Hand and Tina Savas.
Their hope is that you will come away with knowledge that can be used and passed on.” It would be a wise decision to check out one of these books.
