Walker High Schools very own, David Osula, has been recognized as a National Merit Commended Scholar. David smashed the test composed of Math, Critical Reading, and Writing and scoring a 202/240 with his best score in writing. This accomplishment also qualifies David as a Semifinalist in the National Achievement Program where he can compete for scholarships to any school of his choosing. However, David has narrowed down his college choices to two in particular already. Birmingham Southern and Rhodes College are his primary choices where he wishes to become a doctor. These accomplishments and dreams do not come easy though. David studied up to five weeks prior to the test, and used multiple PSAT study guide booklets to prepare him. These accomplishments were very exciting to David saying, “I felt a lot of gratification knowing all of my hard work had paid off.”
If you would like to have the accomplishments of David, then you just may have the chance in the next few weeks. The PSAT test will be administered to our students who are in the 10th and 11th grade on 13, October 2010. Students in the top 25% of their class are strongly encouraged to take the test. The cost is $13 per student and the test will be given one morning in our school theater. See any counselor for more details. You will certainly never ace any test you never take! So go out and give this important test a try.
Congratulations David, and good luck to the test takers this year.
