The Walker High School football team is holding a fundraiser to raise money for the upcoming season expenses. Currently, tickets are being sold at $100 a piece, a pretty steep price – but that investment could turn into $10,000! Coach Holaday has been successful with this same fundraiser when he was the football coach at Hamilton and Clay Chalkville.
The drawing will work slightly different than you might imagine, with tickets being drawn until all prizes are awarded. That is why this is called a “Draw Down Givaway” because the last ticket drawn is the big winner. The 100th ticket pulled will receive $500. The 200th ticket pulled will win $1,000. The very last ticket to be pulled will be the winner of the grand prize, $10,000. Three hundred tickets are availble and they are currently being sold by the team. If you have not been contacted about purchasing a ticket and you want one, then call the school office and we will have a ticket delivered to you.
If all the tickets are sold, this fundraiser will leave $18,500 for the team, and with the remaining money, Coach Holladay plans to buy several items that the team currently needs. One item on the team’s wish list is new gold jerseys for the team. A new football jersey costs approximately $65 dollars, and the team would purchase 99 of these. Do the math and you will see how expensive it can be to run a football program. Don’t miss this exciting event.
The Draw Down will occur at halftime of the Spring Jamboree game on Thursday, May 13th. The game will match up the Walker Vikings against the Columbus Panthers of Columbus High School in Columbus, Mississippi. This team is coached by former Walker High coach Bubba Davis, and we hope a big crowd will turn out for the game…. and someone will become $10,000 dollars richer!
