Walker Vikings beat the Cullman Bearcats in baseball for the first time in five years. The victory was sweet in part because it occurred on Cullman’s own home field. Cullman got on the scoreboard early with a run in the second and fourth inning. In the fifth inning Walker scored 3 with a hit by Eric Vinson. Cullman countered in the sixth with a run of their own. Tyler Culverson led the seventh inning off with a double. C.H. Scruggs came to the plate with runners in scoring position and hit a home run over the right field to give the Vikings the lead. Justin Kamplain got the save with three strikeouts. Pitcher, Austin Waid, earned the win by only giving up three runs and striking out two. Walker moved into first place in the area with the win over Cullman. Walker can clinch a playoff spot with a win over Curry Wednesday.
