After supportive comments from Principal Crigger, such as “May isn’t too far away,” Student of the Quarter nominees and winners were recognized for their contributions to Walker High School. These students are usually selected because of their helpful, positive attitudes. Although many students were nominated, only one winner was chosen from each grade. The winners are:
9th grade: Mikenzi Brasfield
10th grade: Mayrah Mendoza
11th grade: Krystal Anthony
12 grade: Mark Casson
We interviewed Krystal Anthony and Mark Casson to get their take on being Student of the Quarter. Krystal has been nominated 3 times and was surprised that she won. She suggested that she stood out from other students because she “wore really bright colors.” Her advice to someone trying to be nominated is “just don’t get in trouble.” This is also Mark’s first time winning, though he has been nominated seven times before. Mark said that all he did to get nominated was “have a good attitude.” Both winners agreed that the customary reward of a Jack’s biscuit was excellent; “It’s wonderful, Jack’s is the bomb,” said Krystal. Remember, there is still one more Student of the Quarter this year and anyone could be the next winner!
