On January 12th the Caribbean nation of Haiti was devastated by a 7.0 level earthquake. Our school clubs have recently been assisting in the effort to rehabilitate Haiti in different ways. Everyone is encouraged to donate to at least one of these organizations charitable causes.
After hearing the news, our Student Council has taken the initiative to raise five dollars in cash or goods per member to send to Haiti. Vice President Hayley Jones said, “Student Council knew they wanted to help, and was unsure of what would be needed, so we have decided to send money and items with monetary value.”
Beta Club has decided to send blankets to Haiti in order to help with the crisis. Beta Club members are invited to bring in new or gently used blankets and the club will have them shipped to the earthquake victims in Haiti.
Anchor Club is taking donations of Beanie Babies to send to the children in Haiti. Members encourage everyone to bring beanie babies; you can turn your beanie babies into a collection box located in the library.
Interact Club is raising money during the last week of February and the first week of March. They are collecting money through donations, so please help out as best as you can. The money will be sent to an earthquake relief organization.
FCCLA, FBLA, HOSA
“Change for Haiti” is a fundraiser that is school wide and is requesting that all change or spare money go towards the relief efforts. This effort will be going on until the end of the month. Money can be turned into Mr. Lockett, Mrs. Lyle, or Mrs. Davis.
